Ian Hart Funeral Service At-A-Glance
Established: 2004 / Locations: 1, Worthing, West Sussex / Business: Independent Funeral Director

Ian Hart’s family have been in the funeral trade in Worthing since 1901. Now run by the third generation, the company is proud of its roots as Worthing’s oldest existing funeral family, with its team of 15 staff offering a considerate and personal service to Sussex families. The company also has its own chapel with private car park just a short distance from the main premises. The Gordon Chapel can accommodate up to 60 mourners and includes a self-contained catering suite, enabling the team to offer a highly bespoke funeral option to families.

“The families we look after like working with a family run firm. Our ethos – our family are here for your family – is so important to us, and many of the people we deal with have come to us because we’ve supported them before, or someone has recommended us. That means the world to us.”

 -Ian Hart, Funeral Director

As a fully qualified and licensed Funeral Director, Ian is an active member of the Sussex County Association of Funeral Directors, serving as President from 1997 to 2000. One of the company’s key values is in ensuring they offer a transparent service, priced sensibly, so that families can make informed decisions about the type of funeral they want for their loved one.

“The most rewarding part of our work is helping people at a very difficult time. After losing both of my own parents I can truly empathise with how significant the role of a good funeral director is. We make every effort to ensure everyone in our care is looked after with the same respect and dignity which we would show to our own family members.”

Working with Tributes

As an active member of the Sussex business community, Ian had the opportunity to form a connection with Richard Bush, founder of Tributes. After establishing his own independent funeral business in 2004, Ian became a customer of Tributes and the companies quickly developed a close link, especially given their geographical proximity.

“If every supplier was like Tributes the world would be a better place. We enjoy working with the whole team who are generous and charitable with their time, and will bend over backwards to ensure that we create a memorable and fitting mark of respect for the families in our care.”

-Ian Hart, Funeral Director

The Ian Hart team have embraced the entire Tributes product range, sourcing from coffins, caskets and keepsake memorial options. In particular, the team have found that the Photo FramePod has been particularly well received by families wanting a personal keepsake of their loved one. This unique design incorporates a cleverly concealed ashes casket housed discreetly behind a photo in a solid wood frame.

“The funeral business has evolved a great deal in the last 30 years or so, and we are keen to echo this change and make sure that we can offer products which help our families best remember their loved ones. The Tributes range gives us the opportunity to offer original, creative and affordable memorial options for families, which can be a real comfort during a difficult time and in the years to come.”
